On January 14 an international resident of Open Studios, Daniele Marzorati, held an artist-talk.
An Italian artist and associate professor at Accademia Carrara (Bergamo), Daniele Marzorati, worked for a month on his project "Mare Desiderii" in the Open Studios of Winzavod as part of the artists exchange between Winzavod Contemporary Art Foundatio and Viafarini Association.
International cooperation is an important part of Winzavod Foundation’s activities. Since 2018, Winzavod has been hosting foreign artists in its residency on the basis of Open Studios project. It is a unique experience of mutual creativity for artists of different cultures.
«The project "Mare Desiderii" (from the latin "Sea of Dreams", which refers to the area on the far side of the moon) is focused on Soviet-era objects in Moscow. It is based on the concept of monument as an entity that covers a vast space in our memory. The project demonstrates perfect specimens and ideals by repeating some modules through the body of the monument» — Daniele Marzorati.
Cooperation of the Viafarini Association and the Winzavod Contemporary Art Foundation is supported by Italian Cultural Institute in Moscow.
Open Studios is a project that combines the principles of a workshop, a creative residency and an art school on the basis of one of the leading Russian art institutions, Winzavod Foundation. Significant components of the project are the educational direction, the opportunity to work with a tutor, personal professional guidance, participation in collective projects, artist talks and master-classes.
